Deana Bishop, the Principal of Maryville Virtual School, is a native Maryvillian and is a third generation Blount County school administrator, following in the footsteps of her father, Joel Giffin of Maryville Middle School, and her grandfather, Cecil Giffin of Everett High School.  Bishop has worked in Maryville City Schools for over 30 years in various roles, including teacher, technology coordinator, and assistant principal.  Bishop happily leads the development of a new virtual school in Maryville and sees it as an avenue to meet the needs of a diverse set of students, and thus better serve the community.  Bishop enjoys living in her hometown with her husband Roger and daughters Julia and Livy.
